A quote by author Nancy Veldman says, “In innocence, a child believes things adults are afraid to dream to of.”
Whether it is sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, or neglect, when a child is abused, they lose that innocence. However, with the proper response, a child can make a healthy recovery and regain a piece of that innocence.
It is upon that belief that the Innocence Lost Campaign was founded. With the work of child advocacy centers and the response of multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs), the goal is to ensure that children disclosing abuse are not further victimized by the intervention systems designed to protect them. The proceeds raised during this ongoing campaign will directly benefit the MDT response by supporting The C.A.R.E. Center, Inc. and the National Children’s Alliance.
